Rabbi Funnye, Michelle Obama’s first cousin, holds a pulpit on the South Side of Chicago and is the first African American rabbi to serve on the Chicago Board of Rabbis. We are thrilled to welcome him to the 92nd Street Y on March 2 when he’ll talk about his journey to Judaism, his leadership in Be’chol Lashon working with Black, Asian, Latino and mixed race Jews to strengthen the global Jewish people, as well as a few inside stories about the First Family. Ari L. Goldman, author of The Search for God at Harvard and other books, will join him on stage.

Reseñas editoriales

The first African-American to serve on the Chicago Board of Rabbis, Rabbi Capers transcends the stereotypical beliefs about what it means to be Jewish. In this 75-minute interview at the 92nd Street Y, part of a continuing series, Rabbi Capers speaks with Ari Goldman. Goldman is an excellent moderator and interviewer. His questions are concise and insightful. Capers, too, is entertaining. He brings forth lots of great ideas about how Jewish people can build relationships with the many diverse members of their religion.
