Troubled by violence at home and abroad, American eleven-year-old Ashley Anderson begins a crusade for children's rights. But what begins as an ambitious plan for pacifist reform, a bid at being taken seriously, will degenerate into a dangerous and frightening game for survival: Compromise, betrayal, and some well-intentioned adults will twist her aims into a gun pointed at the very innocents she was trying to protect.
