He won't take no for an answer...

When surprise flowers appear from a secret admirer on her fifteenth birthday, Brandi, the gangly, undeveloped, freshman cheerleader thinks it's too good to be true. While her fellow cheerleaders think that Jerome, the mysterious new guy, is perfect, Brandi believes this is finally her ticket into the cheerleader clique.

Jerome seems right out of a romance novel: tall, dark, handsome, drives a hot car and is the running back on the varsity football team. Her classmates say he's rich and the cheerleaders all want to go out with him. But it's clear that Jerome only has eyes for Brandi.

But who is this guy really? What's his story? Why did he move from a bigger school his junior year to her small Texas school in the middle of nowhere? Why does he know her entire school schedule, where she sits and who her friends are? Does he already know where she lives?

Queen of the Nerds is a Mean Girls cautionary tale intertwined with a gripping #Metoo secret. A compelling, nail-biter; unlike any teenaged survivor story you've ever listened to; because it's true, every word.

Queen of the nerds
This book is amazing!! I completely relate to this book because my junior year in high school I was bullied really bad by a group of popular girls. It hurt everyday having to deal with it. I’ve been stalked, mentally and physically abused. The trauma you have to overcome is immeasurable. The author was so strong and courageous. She knew exactly how to come back against the rumors or questions from her classmates. She stood strong!! There were parts of this book that really hit me where I broke down and cried. My heart goes out to the author for the trauma that she endured at such a young age of 15. Her innocence was ripped away from her by a guy who stalked and harassed her and never took accountability for his unwanted vicious actions. This is a sincere read and hits you in the heart. This book is for anyone who suffered any kind of trauma as a teen or who wants to support and understand what victims go through. The message is strong and endearing. I highly recommend this book. You will not be disappointed. The message is inspiring and I hope young readers will take away from it what I did. The author does an outstanding job narrating.

A brilliant Message/This Queen overcame

A truly raw story about the world that hides behind some All-American facades. Some of us are lucky to float through high school without many cares in the world and others of us aren't as blessed. This story both breaks my heart and makes it beam with pride at overcoming adversity! Beautifully written!

Raw and honest

This book hit me harder than I expected. Reverie’s story is raw, vulnerable, and incredibly brave. She opens up about trauma, bullying, and the harshness of growing up in a small town that often silenced those who were different. As someone who grew up in that same town, her words brought back memories I’d long questioned—memories I now realize were valid, real, and shared.

Queen of the Nerds is not just a memoir. It’s a voice for anyone who felt like an outsider, who faced cruelty and kept going anyway. Reverie’s honesty, humor, and resilience shine through every page. This book will break your heart and also help heal it.

I’m so proud of the strength it took to write this. For anyone who’s ever felt unseen or unheard, read this. You’ll find pieces of yourself in these pages—and maybe the courage to tell your own story too.

This memoir is heartbreaking to know an old friend went through this and I was oblivious. It reminds me of how much we truly do not know what others are going through. She shows how hard it is for those in situations like hers to speak up. I hope her story helps others know they aren’t alone and help them find a voice to get help when needed.

Powerful and Eye opening

This book broke my heart and healed it in the same breath. Reverie Fey tells her story with such courage—laying bare the pain of assault, the cruelty of bullying, and the loneliness of being different. But it’s also a story of hope, finding your people, and reclaiming your voice. It’s gripping, emotional, and impossible to put down. A must-read for anyone who’s ever felt like an outsider, and for everyone who needs a reminder of the strength it takes to survive and thrive!

Long Live The Queen!!!

This was a difficult listen, but an incredibly important one. Especially for teen girls. It’s well written, and beautifully performed, which doesn’t surprise me at all. The author has always been extremely talented.

There are a few technical issues: some repeated chapters (36–37 repeat three times), and the audio could use a bit more balance. I may have missed a chapter due to the repetition.

Still, the story itself is raw and courageous. As someone who grew up in the same town and knew the author in high school theater, it hits differently. Small towns can hide a lot.

I’m proud of the author for telling her story. It took guts and it deserves to be heard.

A brave, powerful story that needs to be heard
