It’s road trip time for Audrey Lemonovsky and Sam Gossamer as a curious case of a missing girl and an ancient town legend draws them to northern New Hampshire.
Yordan and Toni Iglesias have recently purchased an old house in the White Mountains, intending to turn it into a Bed and Breakfast. With repair bills mounting, they are convinced by the home’s elderly caretakers to turn the property’s vast fields into a Halloween attraction called Pumpkinland.
With opening day quickly approaching, work on the attraction comes to an abrupt halt when one of Pumpkinland's volunteers goes missing. When the local police prove themselves unable to help, a call is made to a supernatural investigator with a growing regional reputation.
Audrey and Sam arrive to find worried homeowners and an assorted mix of local volunteers, each with some dark shadow from their past hanging over them. Of course, Toni knows, her husband has his own secrets. There was a reason he chose to buy a house in this particular town, after all …
