Three tales of violence, love, and redemption in 1977 New York City. A throwback to 70s cinema. A return to classic crime pulp fiction.

The lives of four dirty cops, a gang of boys, and two young newlyweds unravel with deadly resolve during a historic record-breaking heatwave and a city-wide blackout.

Psycho City Blues is set in the summer of '77 in New York City. A record-setting heat wave has the residents of Crown Heights pushed to their boiling point. New York City is on the verge of bankruptcy, the Son of Sam is killing women with long hair in all five boroughs, and a blackout will soon plunge the city of lights into an unforgiving dark.

With pushers, lovers, looters, sinners, dirty cops, and psycho killers, New York city is burning! And the kids are running amuck!

Who will survive the night of terror? And bring down the man in the high tower? What if it was your wife hunted in a blackout? If your children were lost in a city on fire?

The characters in this story are not polite, considerate, or careful with their words. Their dialogue and actions will most certainly offend a good number of the listeners. But the stories are gritty and bloody and imaginative and visceral. I think I've heard it called splatterpunk. That's a new term for me, so I'll compare it to some of Quentin Tarantino's most violent scenes and dialogue instead. I feel like my ears need a good washing with soap after listening. Not just due to the bizarre behaviors and possible historical accuracy, but also because the AI voice mispronounced so many words and names. Like witnessing a car wreck, the story is hard to walk away from. But one by one, every character gets what karma feels they deserve. [Disclosure: I received this title for free and listened at 2.0x.]

Crass, raw, obscene, politically incorrect, racist
