There is a great deal of content in this book.

After receiving feedback and also criticism, I have comprehensively and thoroughly revised the book. I have also adjusted the previously criticized font size in response to negative reviews. There was a lot of positive feedback, but during the revision I focused especially on the negative criticism in order to make the book even more helpful and user-friendly. It was also criticized that my book was not suitable for advanced users – that hit me, because the positive feedback says otherwise. Nevertheless, I took this criticism seriously and once again compiled all my knowledge about Proxmox in detail.

The book now provides detailed instructions for installing Proxmox, whether on a physical server or on a Hetzner server. You will also find a revised description for setting up the Proxmox Backup Server, numerous practical guides, and a comprehensive chapter on the Proxmox firewall. I have also revised the topic of Fail2Ban and linked additional YouTube videos that I created to make difficult sections even easier to understand.

Newly added is a command reference that gives you a quick overview of the most important commands, as well as detailed instructions for configuring the Proxmox firewall to make your environment even more secure. All in all, this book is a significantly expanded and optimized new edition aimed at both beginners and experienced IT professionals who want to understand and use Proxmox in its full depth.

It was very, very difficult for me to find the right balance between compact knowledge, good clarity, the amount of text and images, and the printing price. The criticism led me to choose a different format and include many more screenshots in the book, but I can no longer offer it at the same price because printing has simply become more expensive. The book now contains many screenshots that guide you step by step through the installation of Proxmox and PBS. There are still many screenshots from PVE 8 included, but wherever PVE 9 has introduced changes, I have of course updated the screenshots.

I hope that with my revisions I can do justice to the critics while continuing to provide readers who have given me positive feedback with a helpful and high-quality book. My goal was to learn from the feedback and create a work that meets the expectations of both beginners and advanced users.

Criticism is not always easy to accept, especially when you have put so much heart and soul into a project. But it motivated me to make this book even better. I am curious to see how you like the new edition and look forward to continuing to take your suggestions into account and further develop my books. Because in the end, one thing matters most to me: that this book gives you the support you need to use Proxmox successfully.
