 Nadia Baylor is a Taxi-Dancer, a Dime-a-Dance Girl, a Nickel Hopper working in a dancehall in 1936 where she does the one thing she's always wanted to do.

Although Nadia's life hasn't always been so carefree, the scars on her body convey that. After fleeing a troubled marriage where she was no more than a servant to her sadistic husband, she changes her name and alters her appearance. Nadia soon makes a life for herself after moving into a boardinghouse in Atlanta, Georgia that houses other dancers.

Nadia befriends one of the women she lives and works with, and soon discovers they have a similar history of abuse. As they share their personal tales of horror about how they became free of their tormentors, Nadia needs to choose her words carefully.
