Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen was first published in 1813. The story follows Elizabeth Bennet as she deals with issues of manners, upbringing, moral rightness, education and marriage in her aristocratic society of early 19th century England. Elizabeth is the second eldest of five daughters of a country gentleman living in the fictional town of Meryton in Hertfordshire, not far from London. Though the story's setting is uniquely turn of the 19th century, it remains near the top of lists of 'most loved books' and still receives considerable attention from literary critics. To date, the book has sold some 20 million copies worldwide.

I've begun reading this book many many times but I just couldn't stay focused on it. The audio was perfect. I could listen as I crocheted keeping both my hands and my mind occupied.

Best narrator!

This classic novel is brought to life by the reading of Ms. Gavin. She was truly the best and I found her Mrs. Bingley spot on. Other narrators were so shrill, I could not listen to them. I won't go into the details of the story, read it if you haven't, it's timeless. But purchase this version to listen to. It's, by far, the best!

Classic Jane Austen

A wonderful way to make an acquaintance with the writing of Jane Austen. Perfect narration !

Great narration. I listen to this book on a loop.

It's Austen's best work, with Emma a close second. The narration is fantastic. Buy it, you won't regret it.

Really nice narration. I really liked her voice. I liked her characterisation and accent. It was perfect.

A timeless classic that I can listen to over and over again. Jane Austen's masterpiece work. Wish there was more.

Beloved Story Well Read

Wow! As I purchased this at a bargain price, my expectations weren't too high - often with audio recordings, you get what you pay for, so to speak. It the narrator is excellent, and so was the editing. Gave new life to one of my favorite classics. I will watch for more from this source!

Still my favourite.

I have read this book so many times but it has been a while and listening to it so well read was like hearing it for the first time.

Classic but...

One of my all time favorite classic novels. I have listened to 4 different audiobook adaptations of this amazing text and this is my least favorite interpretation to date. Good but much better options available.
