And I hate the message that women can't possibly be happy until we all fit into our skinny jeans. I don't find these stories uplifting; they make me want to hug these women and take them out for fizzy champagne drinks and cheesecake and explain to them that until they figure out their insides, their outsides don't matter.

To whom the fat rolls...I'm tired of books where a self-loathing heroine is teased to the point where she starves herself skinny in hopes of a fabulous new life. To whom the fat rolls...I'm tired of books where a self-loathing heroine is teased to the point where she starves herself skinny in hopes of a fabulous new life. And I hate the message that women can't possibly be happy until we all fit into our skinny jeans. I don't find these stories uplifting; they make me want to hug these women and take them out for fizzy champagne drinks and cheesecake and explain to them that until they figure out their insides, their outsides don't matter.

She Always Makes Me Laugh
I've listened to four of Lancaster's nonfiction books and they've all made me laugh. She's bitchy and snotty, which she compensates for with a good measure of self-deprecation. The important thing is that she's very funny.

Peeing my Pants during my commute.

What would have made Pretty in Plaid better?
Better narration.
Has Pretty in Plaid turned you off from other books in this genre?
No, but I will definitely be more choosy when it comes to narration.
What didn’t you like about Jamie Heinlein’s performance?
Too over the top.
You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?
Jen Lancaster is funny so I expected more from this book. It's not her best.
