It's the story of a gifted black girl who chose to accept the opportunity to have a better chance at life in America and attend prep school.

Veda entered a foreign world fraught with academic, social, and emotional challenges as she came of age in both black and white worlds. A young adult memoir, Prepped is an account of Veda's time at Walker's and how she struggled with self-esteem and a new way of learning. These experiences helped her grow and learn in ways she had never imagined.

Engaging Read

Dr. Pendleton's story grabbed my attention immediately and I couldn't stop listening. Before I knew it I had finished with half of my yard project and was over half way though her book. I decided to abandon my lazy Sunday plan and work on the yard again so that I could continue listening to her story. I finished the book but not the yard! As Dr. Pendleton shared her journey, I felt like I was walking in her shoes and living through her vivid storytelling. The ending made me feel happy for her, but also yearning for more of her story.

A Must read for anyone who is going to prep school that happens to be black

Excellent!!!! To the point and filled with important details!!! A unique and thought provoking memoir!
This is a story that is important to many young gifted and black scholars navigating the tricky world of affluence! Great read and a must read for anyone that has been to prep school or going to prep school!!
