Resumen del Editor

PopDaddy is a novel from Southern writer Jeffrey Roach that recounts the heartwarming and hilarious tale of how he and his partner Ken started a family in one of the unlikeliest places. The book takes place in the early 2000s, when single parent adoptions were the only way for a gay couple to adopt a baby from Guatemala, and begins when the couple's best friend announces she's pregnant. Ken wants a baby too.

What follows is a whirlwind 18-month journey that takes them from Dallas to Guatemala and back, as they work to bring baby Jackson home to meet his big, extended family. Along the way they discover that being "out" takes on a new meaning when the duo becomes a trio and that the word family is broad enough to include them.

Funny and Moving!

Any additional comments?

To baby or not to baby? That is the question! At least it’s a question I’ve been asking myself a lot lately. With my thirties about to run out, I feel like it’s now or never for my husband and I, and I’ve been on the fence for too long. If only there was a super fun book that could help me decide! Enter PopDaddy, Jeffrey Roach’s debut novel. This true story is about the author, his hunky husband Ken, and their decision to adopt a child together. Fifteen years ago when such things were much less common. Oh, and they’re living in Texas. To answer your next question, yes, Jeffrey and Ken are crazy. Or brave. Maybe a little of both, because this story isn’t a dry account of the forms that need to be filled out, or long drawn-out trips to the courthouse. This book celebrates how nutty family can be, both the one we are born with and the one we later build for ourselves. Kevin R Free was the perfect choice as narrator, since the humor in this story plays to his talents as a performer. At eight hours long, PopDaddy is a light but engaging audiobook that will leave you wanting more.

Loved it!

Wow, this was a really good, happy, read and I loved listening to every second of it. Definitely going on my favourites list that I will listen again and again. I love books like this, simple but powerful in the delivery and the message.

Kevin R. Free is as fabulous as ever. Perfect narrator fit.
