Great end to the story

Fantastic wrap of if well, everything.

TERRIBLE pronunciation and voices. Absolutely and truly awful.

After the amazing job the previous guy did on all of the other books, including his wonderfully perfect and convincing female voices, as well as all of his exceptional portrayals of so many characters, they should have just had him do this book as well.

Seriously, he already had a perfect Polgara voice. And he pronounced all the words, names and places correctly. The lady who read this book just made it painful and exasperating to listen to.

Seriously, it’s took effort to get thru this otherwise wonderful book. That should not be the case.

Narration is awful. Dont waste money

Cameron Beierle narrated 11 books in this series. He is capable of narrating the MANY male voices. This book is about a female but normally she is the ONLY female... That leaves all the other voices in the book as MALE which the female narrator cannot manage. Cameron Beierle created the voices of all these character for ELEVEN BOOKS!!! His female characters were good.... Why would they change the narrator? Why they thought that they needed a female narrator who can NOT do male voices.... is beyond me. This ruined the audible book. Don't waste your money!

Unfortunately bad narration

I'm sorry but this narrator kind of ruined the story for me. If changing the narrator from the last 9 books or so was so necessary, This narrator could have at least listened to one previous audio book to know how to correctly pronounce the names of the characters and places...

Terrible Narrator, Mediocre Story

The narrator really could have stood to listen to Cameron Bierle read the rest of this series. If you’re reading the 12th book in a 12 book series, as a narrator you have the responsibility to provide continuity for the listener. The pronunciation of names and places in this was atrocious. It’s bad enough that it should actually be re-recorded with correct language. Her voice was fine when she was just reading the character of Polgara, but everyone else was just jarring, and on occasion even laughable.

The story was only so-so. I had read this before many years ago and loved it. Now as a reasoning adult woman, Polgara got on my nerves. If you let her tell the story, everything happened because of her. She always knew everything, she was never wrong, and every single man around her was at best an idiot and at worst an actual menace. This isn’t the Polgara from the other 11 novels in this series. Apart from a couple of sections, she basically rehashes everything Belgarath has already said, just with herself as the savior and knower-of-all. It got old very fast. In short, if you’re an Eddings completionist, read this. If you aren’t, skip it.

If you have any desire to buy this Book do not under any circumstances by the audio version.

What an incredible let down. This book is meant to be read after you’ve finished the Belgariad series, the Malloreon series and Belgariad The Sorcerer. All narrated by Cameron Beierle. For this book however someone made the horrid decision to change the narrator.

What a complete travesty.

I suppose the book would be OK if you had not listened to the other performances, but I have.11 books I think, and I enjoyed them all. For some reason that this reader cannot imagine the narrator for this book chose to change the way she pronounces some pretty important names.... lead lead characters and the places they live / visit.

I could not even finish the story. I wish I could get my money back.

There’s more continuity in the second frosty the snowman movie then there is in the narration of this book.

the story itself is good. but since they changed the reader from Cameron, to Dina. the pronunciations of many names were changed, and her voice changed grated my nerves. I did not like this reading at all.

Great book, mediocre narration

For a series with 10 books and 2 prequels, 11 of which are narrated by the same person, the switch to a different narrator for this book was extremely difficult. I found myself confused for a moment about who or what was being talked about because the narrator pronounces things wildly differently from the original narrator. The story is fantastic and I love the series with all my heart but I would pay 4-5x the cost of every book in the series to never have to listen to this book by this narrator again. The way she reads the voice of Ce'Nedra sounds like nails on a chalkboard and she flat out butchers several of the major characters names. She ads weird paused in the middle of words/country names that make no sense and I found myself regularly saying the original pronunciation out loud in irritation because she refused to just continue the 11 book long pattern. I don't care if they couldn't keep the old narrator. I loved his style but if he needed to move on, it is what it is. It drives me insane that you'd go and hire a new narrator and expect the audience to just be cool with her changing every character name and location name. It sounds unprofessional and sloppy and I'm really disappointed in the final product of my favorite series being this bomb.

great story, horrid narrator

As you can see from the other reviews, the story is amazing. The narrator was terrible in that she obviously never listened to the previous books recorded by Cameron Beierly. She mispronounced many proper names and places, Literally cringed and cursed and screamed the correct names every time. but to me the biggest failure was the voice she used for Ce'Nedra, she made her sound like an irritating old lady, was horrid. If you can suffer through these issues, the story is wonderful!

beyond mispronouncing names of major characters and places, there was even other mispronounced words. Naration let's down a great story.
