Classic Parker

I never knew one that was easy. Parker survives again. You knew he would. One of the best Parkers, and that's high praise.

Note: just a bit upset Alan Growfield ( a sometimes Parker partner ) didn't get more books as well!

Great Parker

All great narratives were excellent. Wish Barret did more Parker books. Don’t hesitate to listen. Many thanks.

Too little, too late!

Part one, ninety minutes, is a culmination of several unrelated Parker tales. I’m unsure why Westlake had this in the book but it was just filler. Continuing. Handy left word with Claire that Ducas wanted to see him at the Port Dutch Hotel in New York. Parker met Ducas who had a tip for him for a job. A man named Makee was putting together an art heist and needed men. Parker went to the exhibit to look at the paintings, then met Makee. A man named Griffith was the setup man. Parker had to meet Griffith and things went Parker’s way. Handy called with a message for Parker to call Biegler; the man from part one. Biegler said he had a line on Uhl, which he would take him to. Parker left immediately. Afterward, he was back with Makee and the armored car art job, which was on. So much for the setup of the story. Stan Deavers, Lou Sternberg, and Tommy Carpenter were the three new men for the string. On with the score. This whole story is pretty odd. It seemed like it was cobbled together from different pieces of various stories. Honestly, I don’t like the way it was put together. From the forward, I was expecting something great, similar to the previous two stories; “Deadly Edge” and “Slayground”. That’s not what I got. It was almost three hours in before we got to the robbery. Disappointed, to say the least.
