The unabridged version of Pleasure Pain & Prison takes you deeper into the true story of the life of Wanda Lynn McRoyal, portrayed as the character Jayla. The story is told in the order events occurred. Jayla’s excursion will take you on a roller-coaster ride of emotions as you travel with her down memory lane. Jayla grew up in a dysfunctional home with an alcoholic father and a mother with a gambling addiction. Her dreams shattered, Jayla rebelled and turned to the streets of inner-city Chicago. Seduced by the money and danger of the drug world, by the time Jayla is 17, she’s selling elicit drugs. She was trapped in a destructive culture of illegal business, teen pregnancy, and being a single mother.

Desperate to make ends meet, she enlists the help of a childhood friend, who ends up being the man she would love more than life itself, but would ultimately be her undoing. Years later, even moving to Vegas to escape the unhealthy relationship proved not to be far enough. In spite of the unimaginable indignities, infidelities, and emotional trauma suffered at his hands, Jayla was still ride or die for her man. Indicted on federal charges of drug trafficking, she refused to testify against Terrance, though he’s turned on her to save himself.

This is a raw authentic honest story of one women's journey through immense betrayal and hardship. The power of transformation and transcendence is seen throughout the story with the culmination being a life of freedom. The heroine finds God and shows the reader the lasting impact that discovery made on her and and reminds us that living in faith is available to all of us. Thank for being so strong and courageous.
