Fun to listen

This was such a fun listen! It felt like sitting around a campfire hearing wild pirate stories, but with real history behind them. Oscar Johnson makes the history of piracy exciting without losing the facts. The narrator kept it lively and never boring. If you’re into adventure and learning something new at the same time, this one’s a win.

Thrilling

This is such a thrilling and exciting listen from the music at the beginning, the narration performance, and many stories covered. I have always had a fascination with pirates and the lives they lived. This audiobook does an excellent job creating a mental picture from beginning to end.

Wow, I learnt a lot- it was also fascinating!

Loved chapter 4 - “the pirate round” where the author talks about Captain William Kidd during a time in the 1690s where the Caribbean had become immensely dangerous for pirates! Naval patrols and anti-piracy laws where really stepping in the way, however the Indian Ocean was free game. They set their targets on merchant ships of the East India company and seemed to have found bounties beyond imagination. This was unbelievably educational but also incredibly fascinating and unto listen to. Oscar Johnson has done a fantastic job of compiling this information and has made a really fun title.

A thrilling listen start to finish!

This takes you right onto the deck with the pirates themselves. I loved how it mixed true history with exciting stories. It’s not the Hollywood version, but the real deal with sea battles, hidden havens, and great characters like Blackbeard and Anne Bonny. The narration is smooth and easy to follow, almost like sitting around a campfire hearing wild tales. Some parts surprised me, especially the sections on women pirates and how many myths were busted. If you like adventure, history, or just want a fun escape, this is a great listen.

I don't want to give away too many spoilers, but I highly suggest this book. It has great audio and great attention to detail. If you love pirates and adventure I recommend picking this one up

There is a good balance of fact and fiction, dispelling long-held myths and providing a more accurate portrayal of these legendary figures. This is a great book that offers both entertainment and enlightenment.

the history class I wish I had

This is so fascinating to learn about names I recall hearing but listening to more of the stories behind the names. Each story shares their origin if known, claim to fame, downfall/retirement, and any remaining mysteries! I love the connections between some movies and what some of the real life people that inspired them. There are also so many interesting fun facts per se about pirates in general as well as places that they would convene and what they were like. I also apprecciate the insights and role thaat various governments/countries played and even indigenous people. All-around, this would've hands down been my favorite history class/behind the scenes of pirate characters and movies. Some of the practices were indeed wild but interesting to hear about.

Fun

First off i really loved the narrators accent and the way he tells the story. This story got me hooked from the first chapter. It really makes you feel like you living in that era of pirates and gold. It gets pretty thrilling because of the way it describes so many of the different worlds and scenes. I wish they would make this into a movie of some sort. Defiantly recommend this for anyone looking to get lost in a pirate world.

This book is very interesting, it has a lot of information with dates and pretty good description. The audio and narrator is easy to follow and interesting. Also, describe how the people desolation people join the pirates and how they prosper and their activities. This information is deep and how they move, grow and went down. Mentioned by name all those pirates. I enjoyed this book.
