However, during that time, unparalleled minds from all over the globe unsnarled age-old mysteries and perfected prevailing theories, conjuring up wave after wave of breakthroughs that catapulted the world of science to unprecedented heights. Owing to this influx of novel ideas and innovative concepts, conferences had to be assembled to keep the relevant scientific spheres apprised of the latest advances. The formation of such conferences also allowed them to confront burning questions and investigate unexplored realms in their respective fields.
The most notable of these gatherings was the Fifth Solvay International Conference on Electrons and Photons, 16 years after its inception. Not only did this batch of physicists aim to dissect the recently structured quantum theory, realists and instrumentalists intended to resolve the debate on scientific methods once and for all. The dispute ultimately ended in favor of the latter.

Rosalind Franklin was what can only be called an overlooked genius. Although she was not fully credited for the feat at the time, her work led to major breakthroughs in our understanding of DNA. In fact, she took the first X-ray photo of DNA in all of its double helix glory. By the time her former colleagues were being showered with accolades for results they made at least partially based on her findings, Franklin would not be around to see it. Sadly, it’s believed that her use of X-ray equipment gave her terminal cancer, cutting her life short at age 37.

I loved how the story starts as a parallel of Marie and Pierre lifes, and then their stories merge. It is one of the most awesome science stories ever.
