Emma Post is a force to be reckoned with. Meanwhile, It’s the height of the ‘90s tech boom and wealthy philanthropist and business mogul, Erasmus Vandenberg has dreams of retiring and spending his remaining days as a soon-to-be discovered artist. However, not long after hiring Emma as a private portrait model, he meets with an unexpected demise. Everyone assumes it was natural causes, except Emma, who — for reasons which she doesn’t understand — inherits the bulk of his fortune.

Determined to find out the cause of his death, Emma enlists the help of Dennis, along with recently retired homicide-detective-turned-private-investigator, Jose Ortega to help her find answers. Unfortunately, that also means having to join forces with her old rival, Rue Brennan, and Rue’s shady Cyber Forensic Consultant boyfriend, Darwin Fennec.

Emma’s quest invites in an odd list of characters, such as Elsbeth Ions, Erasmus’s socially awkward granddaughter, playboy Baxter Baker (who has his eyes set on Emma), and Nyla Sprightly, a woman claiming to manage the Vandenberg’s Florida estate. In a world full of lies, legacies, and hidden agendas, Emma must decide who she can trust—before she becomes the next target.
