Heute wie vor 150 ein Klassiker der Erzählkunst: ein ganz besonderes Lesevergnügen für Märchenfans - ohne Ablaufdatum.
"Träumereien an französischen Kaminen", eine Märchensammlung bestehend aus 22 Geschichten, wurde von Richard von Volkmann-Leander während seines Kriegseinsatzes unter der Belagerung von Paris 1870-71 verfasst. Die Sammlung stellte er stückweise fertig und schickte sie per Feldpost zu seinen Kindern und seiner Frau in die Heimat. Spätere Werke, darunter Gedichte, Lieder und Geschichten, sind weitgehend in Vergessenheit geraten, aber die Märchensammlung ist seit ihrer Veröffentlichung als Buch nach Volkmann-Leanders Rückkehr aus dem Krieg mit ihren heute mehr als 300 Auflagen eine schriftstellerische Erfolgsgeschichte.
Die hier vorliegende Ausgabe enthält 5 Märchen aus der ursprünglichen Sammlung, darunter "Pechvogel und Glückskind", eine Geschichte von zwei Schicksalen, die unterschiedlicher nicht sein könnten, und die doch durch ihre Zuneigung zueinander eine gemeinsame Zukunft aufbauen.

Richard von Volkmann-Leander (geboren 1830 in Leipzig, gestorben 1889 in Jena) war ein sehr erfolgreicher deutscher Chirurg, dessen Arbeit bahnbrechende Fortschritte für die Medizin bedeutete, aber auch, unter seinem Pseudonym Richard Leander, ein begnadeter Poet und Märchendichter. Seine Karriere als Schriftsteller begann unter der Belagerung von Paris, während der er zum Trost und Zeitvertreib kurze Märchen schrieb und seinen Kindern mit der Post schickte. Erst nach seiner Rückkehr nach Halle (Saale) im Jahr 1971 wurde die so entstandene Märchensammlung als Buch veröffentlicht.
