Interesting read; enjoyable listen

This is the second book I have read by Quinones Miller. The controversial topic of racial passing made this book quite an interesting read, as the protagonist is faced with biases and dilemmas that involve this possibility. Her questions and (lack of) actions lend easily to a discussion on self-perception, as well as past and present race relations. The plot was a bit longer than necessary to drive the point home; as a result, it became a bit predictable after a while. Nonetheless, I was pleased with the book. I truly enjoyed the narration, as Ms. Washington read with much fluency and her voice was very diverse and believable as she took on different roles. I would read other books by this author and certainly listen to others with the same narrator!

This book ranks in the top ten!!

What did you like best about this story?

The ending when "Nicole" realized what she did & realized it wasn't worth all the valuable people & time she missed.

Which character – as performed by Sharon Washington – was your favorite?

The narrator was easy to follow, nice speaking voice. She did an excellent job!! I liked all of the characters, all characters had a valuable part in the story.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

I didn't listen to the book in 1 sitting, but I could've.....couldn't wait til I could listen to the next chapters.

speaks true to my reality

As a light skin black woman, I've been on both sides of the fence. I've never taken it to the extremes of the main character. But I could totally relate on many levels. everything from her childhood, to how she was treated in the real world, shopping, hailing a cab you name it. a small portion towards the end I must say is rather disappointing. but it was an excellent read and I recommend this title to anyone who has ever struggled with acceptance no matter what culture.

Great Listen

This is actually my second time listening to this book. The first time was years ago!!

It is a good story line and pulls you to the end trying to figure out how and when her "Passin" will implode!!
