 responsible parent

This book will represent how we take care of our children. All parent wants their child to be responsible persons, and they want this responsibility to spring from ultimate values, among which are reverence for life and concern for human welfare, which is based on the respect for life, A responsible parent set limits for their children. They should make sure that their children eat the proper foods, dress appropriately, and are in bed. Love them unconditionally; don't force them to be who you think they should be in order to earn your love.

The Hardest Job in the World

"You are not a perfect parent. In all this world, there is none."

As someone who greatly looks forward to having children one day, I found this book not only enjoyable, but also highly informative. I loved Garden's format of highlighting the main family that is talked about throughout the duration of the novel, but also peppering the narrative with examples of other children. It was helpful to see a variety of stories highlighting experiences, both good and bad, that almost every parent will face at some point in their lives. And the quote at the end about how no parent is "perfect" is also very important. It's important to anyone, especially new parents, to know that sometimes, your children are going to make bad decisions. But in a way, that's also crucial to their overall development and provided you are able to address the situation in a calm and appropriate matter, your children will ultimately grow up to be amazing individuals in today's society.

Hilarious, witty, fun and educational, not your typical self help book

As the mother of two toddler boys, 2 1/2 and 3 1/2 (yes a year apart 🙄) I found Jennifer Garden’s Parenting Children: Learn How to be a Loving and Effective Parent as a witty and funny self help book about all the joys and pains of parenting in today’s modern world. I particularly loved the stories from the dads point of view as they were very funny and made the subjects very relatable.
The subjects covered were very relevant in today’s world; subjects like the struggle between being your child’s friend but also a disciplinarian, how to handle social media and electronics, bullying, and the ever growing crisis of ADHD. For me I particularly liked the fact that there was not much “psychology speech” if you will, making much easier to follow, yet it was very much based on science and research.
Overall, I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a little help in parenting, and wouldn’t mind laughing along the way, because after all, that is what parenting is all about, the struggle, the frustration, and the laughing later. GREAT READ

A Lovely Book Worth Rereading

I found this book extremely insightful and a pleasure to listen to.

The author, Mrs. Garden, uses real world and present day situations inside of a structure following a behavioral template. Rather than a linear age format that would follow a child’s growth through life; all in the third person. Though it took me a chapter to get used to, the more I listened, the more comfortable the dialogue became. I was also very pleased at the amount of humor the author has incorporated. It gave a much welcomed playfulness to the listening experience.

As an added bonus, in between these reenactments, Mrs. Garden draws from the professional research of psychological conditions and biochemical studies. She cleverly weaves this kind of information into concise instruction making it very understandable. And at the same time, showing the child’s mind on how they think and what their point of view is throughout development. At no point was I confused about what was being said or discussed. On top of this, Mrs. Garden also incorporates present day technology and social media platforms into these reenacted and teachable situations. Again, another bonus.

One more praise about this book, amidst the many I have, the author has chosen to emphasize the adaptability you must have on; first, flowing with your child’s unique individuality; and second, using your own methods to help them grow and flourish. Giving examples and options on one’s approach in these situations. In no part of this book does it stick to any “one way to raise your child” mentality. The author, being aware of this fact of ambiguity, runs with it, knowing that the parent knows best.

Bravo!!!

Highly Recommend!!!

Full disclosure, I must admit when the subject of bullying first appeared, Garden managed to pull at my heartstrings. You see, throughout middle school my younger brother was a victim of harassment and vicious bullying, I only wish the parents of the bullies could have only picked up this book to be aware of the repercussions on a child’s life.

Personal anecdote aside, I thought the fashion in which the plot and dialogue unraveled really spoke volumes and made an impact as I listened throughout. (I do however must admit that it was at first quite disorienting).

The real case scenarios were extremely helpful bringing to light the issues that plague today’s teens --- i.e. social media. Not only did the described situations detail the tough times that the father went through with his child, but the story itself took into consideration that a child’s, and in turn, the parent’s life is not all influenced by the negative events. Life keeps on moving through the good and the bad. With that in mind, there were some moments in the book that were light and funny.

Garden’s take was refreshing because it unfurled like life itself, a series of moments, both devastatingly tragic with instances of helplessness with those of giddy joy and unconditional love.

Highly Recommended for Parents of Young Children

Being a parent is one of the most complex jobs a person can have, and there is no agreed-upon course of study for it. Of the many parenting books out there, I rank this one as a personal favorite. Packed with real-life scenarios that present parenting struggles and show how various parents have solved them, it will be a useful tool for any parent who wants pointers on solving a tough problem or who simply needs to know that they're not alone in their struggles.

From technology to bullying, Garden tackles many issues that children today face, and she does it with a sense of humor that makes the book enjoyable despite its occasionally serious subject matter. Garden also does a great job of acknowledging that children are individuals, and that different techniques may work better when parenting different kids.

Parenting is challenging, and no parent is perfect, but with help from this book, parents may be able to understand their children's needs a little better. An enjoyable, informative read.

I highly recommend the book.

Let them know that you will always love them no matter what. The love between mother and father plays an important role for children. Children need a real strong relationship between themselves and their parents. Children who have a strong relationship with their parents are most likely to respect the authority of their parents. the most important thing is to create a nurturing environment where your children feel like they can thrive and develop into confident, independent, and caring adults

love your child

Love is absolutely necessary for a good parent-kid relationship. It helps form stronger and better relationships. Things that parents do out of love will make kids appreciate them more. A lot of times discipline lessons, though sometimes harsh. Kids may not appreciate this right away, in the long run, they will realize their mistake and they will be thankful for those few slaps across the butt or the face. Most of the time a little discipline is all you need to make sure that kids stay on the right road in life. This book is high - recommended to the parents who love their children!
