In this book we will study Paul’s letter to the Philippians in detail, beginning with a brief review of the city and its history, followed by a verse-by-verse study of the epistle itself. We do this in order to see what was happening in the times of the writing of Philippians, and how it still applies to us as believers today.

This letter from Paul to the church provides instruction for Christian living and warnings about those who may come and try and impose legalism on the church, thereby denying that faith alone is all that is required for salvation. The church will also receive instruction on perseverance in times of persecution, unity in the church body, and how being of one mind is needed in order to be able to stand strong. This is also where true joy in Christ can be found even in times of difficulty. Lastly, we will see in this letter Paul’s thanks toward them for their support in his time of need, and encouragement to continue in faithful giving. The sole purpose of this study is to search out the true meanings of God’s word without any denominational bias.

This study can be used as a teaching guide in itself, or be used for talking points in small group settings. Not everyone may agree with the interpretations in this study which is perfectly all right. The important thing is that the word of God be diligently studied so that God’s divine truths may be known.
