This Raging Bull Publishing box set contains four classic Western books by Owen Wister:

Lin Mclean (1897) Lin Mclean is a collection of stories that follows the life of a Wyoming cowboy. We ride with Lin as he goes in search of variety but ultimately journeys from being a boy into a man.

Red Men and White (1895) From Arizona to Idaho, these stories are fictionalized accounts of actual events involving natives, Mexicans, the army, and Mormons, providing a telling argument for the myth and the truth of the Western as we think we know it.

The Jimmyjohn Boss (1900) Dean Drake, a slender youth of 19, is hired as a foreman to supervise an unruly band of cowhands at a remote cattle camp in the mountains. His first challenge as foreman is to enforce a rule of temperance in the camp by forbidding liquor, stored in demijohn containers. The men obey his rule until Christmas festivities weaken their restraint.

The Virginian (1902) This classic tells the story of the Wyoming ranch foreman known only as the Virgianian, his courtship of schoolteacher Molly Starkwood, and his encounters with the murdering cattle rustler Trampas, set against the Johnson County War.
