The Other Side is a 100% honest and true story about Kim Cottrell. Kim’s childhood was horrific; she was abandoned, sexually molested from 5 to 10 years old, and suffered physical and psychological abuse.

In the first few chapters, Kim talks about what happened to her in her childhood. Not for anyone to feel sorry or bad for her, but simply so you know what she went through.

The middle chapters move into how she became as a result of the abandonment, molestation, physical, and psychological abuse. She lived a life set on complete self-destruction and how she contemplated suicide. And how she stopped believing in God.

The book then goes on to talk about how God was working in her life, despite the fact she was living a seedy life (alcohol, drugs, and promiscuity) and flat out didn’t believe in God or any higher being. She talks about God’s unconditional love. Kim talks about her transformation to a new person. And God’s continual unconditional love, despite her human imperfection.

Lastly, she talks about how she became happy, joyous, and free! Her hope is by sharing her story, it may serve as an inspiration to you and that it may help you find your way to a happy, joyous, and free life; She shares how she got to the other side of unhappiness, loneliness, and depression. The other side, of course, being happy, joyous, and free.

If you suffer from anxiety, fear, alcoholism, drug addiction, self-destructive behaviors, loneliness, unhappiness, and/or low self-esteem, etc., I suggest you listen to this book.

You can change your future and be happy

The most inspirational book that I have read. Kim listening to God to write this book about overcoming a hard life will help others know you change your future no matter what you have gone through.

Wow! Her story brought a tear or two to my eyes. What God did for her renews and strengthens my Faith in God.

Beautiful and Raw

I loved this beautiful, raw memoir. Kim Cottrell’s story was sad, and inspiring filled with hope. My heart goes out to her and what she endured most of her childhood. I hope many people read her story and it somehow helps them through difficult situations. She was the picture of a strong, determined woman who faced many adversities and overcame them. Her story was emotional, moving and powerful. I couldn't put it down. I listened to the audio version of the story and the narrator, Izabel, made me feel as if Kim herself was telling me her story. She was really good. I highly recommend this book. Beautifully written.
