There he strikes up an unlikely friendship with a single mother and her daughter. With their help, he begins the slow process of healing—until the girl goes missing. Faced with the opportunity to do what he couldn’t do for his own daughter, Farley sets out on a brutal odyssey through Portland’s quirky and dangerous underworld, using his wits and his fists to try to save her life along with the shattered remains of his own.

Very good read/listen!

I had never heard of this author before and saw someone share a link - thought I’d give it a try because Phil Thron is an amazing narrator.

I am very happy to have this as part of my library. The author has a very solid style that combines seriousness with humor that I very much enjoyed. The story itself was something I didn’t expect - combining, in my mind at least, a tale reminiscent of “Man on Fire”, “Jack Reacher”, and Tom Clancy’s “Without Remorse.”

Do yourself a favor and download this to your library. Phil Thron delivers an amazing performance as always and that drives home this author’s excellent writing style.

interesting charactors

I liked the characters, they are very believable. Portland is well portrayed also. I live in Portland and there are hoards of homeless, or unhomed.

I don't want to give anything away however there are some parts that are breathtaking.

I highly recommend this book. my audible library is over 1000 books and this gem rates at the top. I wish my words were 1/10th as eloquent as the author's.
