Resumen del Editor

Orbus continues the adventure of Captain Orbus in Neal Asher's high-octane, science fiction Spatterjay series.

A cold war is turning white hot.

Old Captain Orbus commandeered a ship to flee Spatterjay, desperate to escape the violent planet. Orbus’s alien enemy, the Prador Vrell, is also moving on. The Spatterjay virus mutated him into something even more dangerous. And he’s hunting the Prador King himself – who sought to kill him, to bury the secret of their similar transformations.

Orbus and Vrell clash in the Graveyard, a lawless zone where the Prador have seized a key space station. Official action by humanity or Prador would end peace, as a centuries-long cold war simmers. So Earth commands Orbus to destroy the station, even as the King recruits a monster to exterminate Vrell. But their actions will awaken an intelligence that annihilated civilizations, as it stirs after five million years . . .

Brilliant.

Neal Asher is demanding of his readers. His books require a certain intelligence. The rewards of this are interesting well thought out stories.

Excellent book

A great read. Story starts relatively small but proceeds to encompass large events in a hurry.

More Neal Asher Please!

What made the experience of listening to Orbus the most enjoyable?

Straight ahead, crisp storytelling. It was filled with creative mayhem, imaginative tech and cool characters. Even the bad guys were awesome and interesting.

What other book might you compare Orbus to and why?

Asher's characters are a lot like the warrior characters in Williams Gibson's Sprawl Trilogy. Nobody will ever be as cool as Molly Millions, but a lot of characters in this book come close. In particular a certain war drone AI named sniper.

What does William Gaminara bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Clean narration. Doesn't go overboard creating voices

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

My thought on finishing this book was that was,

Hard Sci-fi with a steam/cyber punk feel.

Although I somewhat agree with the other reviewer that it was certainly difficult at times to keep everything straight. I do love John Lee's narration work, maybe they had an intern do the editing and mix work.

Besides that though, this book is a bit of a departure from the previous two books in that it takes placed almost entirely off planet. The characters, the plot, and the settings are all done very well.

Although this book may not change your life, it is leaps and bounds above the normal rubbish Sci-fi literature.I would defiinitely recommend it, but be aware that the editing is a bit funky.

Need concentration to follow

I listen to all 3 book in the series, they all have the same problem. I had to rewind an re-listen many time.
Need concentration to follow, this series is missing (audio) separation from one chapter or paragraph to an other. You are following what is happening at one place and now you are somewhere else, with different characters. If you had the book in end you could see that their is a switch, in this recording you have to focus a lot to follow those changes... Or may be I am a bad listener with over 500 book listening...
