A killer lurks in the shadows of San Francisco’s glittering opera scene, and Billy and Ben must risk everything to stop them.

In the foggy streets of 1901 San Francisco, journalist Ben Hirsch and his florist partner Billy McGee are thrust into a world of betrayal, ambition, and murder when a celebrated singer is killed during an opera performance. As whispers of danger swirl among the city’s elite, the duo uncovers deadly secrets some would do anything to keep hidden.

From opulent opera houses to shadowy back alleys, Ben and Billy must navigate a city where the powerful rule and justice is elusive. But as the investigation deepens, it threatens not only their lives but also the bond that holds them together.

Will their love survive the truths they uncover—or will the killer silence them for good?

Opera Can Be Murder! is a gripping historical mystery brimming with atmosphere, intrigue, and unforgettable characters. Perfect for fans of richly woven tales with heart-pounding suspense.

There are a lot of things I loved about this book. The place and time setting, in addition to the plot centering around opera were what really drew me to listening to this. Also having gay characters as the protagonists was great to have as well. I think having this read by an actual narrator would have helped a lot. Many of the characters went by several names (e.g. stage name vs. real name vs. character name they played), and the two main characters both called either other 'B' a lot. So without any voice distinction between any character voices really made the story confusing to follow. I had to re-listen to several sections until I figured out who was saying what. That being said, I still loved it and would listen to another LGBT mystery written by the author. All the characters were extremely likable and interesting and the story had me guessing until the end.
