Resumen del Editor

What if the history of America's largest Indian nation is actually a polite modern fiction, one invented by "anthropologists and other friends"? In this sweeping revisionist study of the Cherokee Indians, a scholar trained in classical philology and the new science of genetics discloses the inside story of his tribe.

Combining evidence from historical records, esoteric sources like the Keetoowah and Shalokee Warrior Society, archeology, linguistics, religion, myth, sports and music, and DNA, this first new take on the subject in 100 years guides the reader, ever so surely, into the secret annals of the Eshelokee, whose true name and origins have remained hidden until now. The narrative starts in the third century BCE and concludes with the Cherokees' removal to Indian Territory in the 19th century, when all standard histories just begin. The ancient Egyptians, Greeks, Jews, Romans and Phoenicians have long departed from the world stage. After more than 2,000 years the Cherokee remain and are their heirs.

When myth becomes history, DNA's eye into the past

My squaw and I sat and listened to this straight through. Oy-Vey! (tonque & cheek)
This journey was facinating, and on occasion TMI, but the main take-aways for us were well worth the ride.
This book helped us to lift the fog on human history. There are many reasons to cover up history, such as fear, despiration, survival, but many are just plain political tactical manipulation for greed and power. Whatever the reason, Dr Yates uses multiple sources and through the lense of cutting edge DNA technology straightens out things that were considered myth and forbidden to be discussed in academic circles.
Rich Crankshaw did a great job of reading this sometimes technical material with authoritative clairity.
The book was not about entertainment for us but about the sense of wonder and discussion that follows.
In a sense it strengthened our belief regarding certain ancient histories that are thought to be instructional moral myths.
Thank you for your research and passion Dr Yates.

Story Time with Tribal Elders

Around the Campfire after chores and meals, the children gather to listen to the Elders tell the old stories about the old ways. As I listened to Rich Crankshaw, I was transported into the Dreamtime, sitting with the children while the fire crackled and the smoke swirled. The sound of his voice rhythmic as the drums beat took me back til I saw the paddle dip as the rowers of the boat moved across the water. Could I be an Old Soul?
Could you?

Secrets and traditions of the tribe are handed down this way; by Oral Traditions. The Enemy could not steal what was in your head. Seven is a sacred number. Cherokee mothers plan for the 7th generation. More and more you see writings about the Cherokee.
Sharing the story is important. It is written in the Stars and in our DNA. The Ancient History of the Cherokee is told by Donald Yates, in the way only he can. Donald uses
Genealogies of People who trace their lineage with historical facts as one can find them to reconstruct the Oral Traditions, analyzing scientific data in DNA. He takes you more into the story behind Old World Roots of the Cherokee a companion book of the detailed research. The Cherokee People are unique in their cultural practices and artisan pursuits.
They exchanged much along their journey and with the South American cousins bringing it with them to North American. Listen yourself to be transported.
