Oka Sex Worker Atma Katha, penned by Nalini Jameela is the translated version of an autobiography. Nalini Jameela came into public view in Kerala in 2005 when her autobiography, Oru Laingikatozhilaliyute Atmakatha, was published in Malayalam and became a controversial bestseller. The Malayalam book went into six editions in one hundred days and sold 13,000 copies. The original was published first in Malayalam and S Kathyayini later translated it into Telugu. The book traces the life journey of a Malayalee sex worker Nalini Jameela. She tells her story with utmost honesty and humble nature. She talks about the situations she faced, the people she met, the struggles she underwent but never gave up in life. She fought for the rights of sex workers and made sure people acknowledge their existence in society. Oru Laingikatozhilaliyute Atmakatha is the title of the book. At a time when people hate to talk about sex workers, the book created a debate on sex workers in the country. Even today, the book is still relevant and important in its own way.
