Jolene Garcia is a local TV reporter in Phoenix, Arizona, splitting her time between covering general assignments—anything from a monsoon storm to a newborn giraffe at the zoo—and special projects, stories that take more time to research and produce, stories that Jolene wants to tell.

When word gets out about a death at a radio station, Jolene and other journalists swarm the scene, intent on reporting the facts first. The body is soon identified as Larry Lemmon, a controversial talk-show host, who died under suspicious circumstances. Jolene conducted his final interview, giving her and her station an advantage. Entertaining. Good listening.

The reader was great. Her voice was pleasant to listen to. Her different character voices made dialogue easy to follow. The story was very engaging and you got an inside look at public news television without it coming across like boring how to book. Lots of action and plot twists to keep it interesting. Our main character isn’t perfect and is relatable. This was the author’s first book and looking forward to the next installment.

Off the Air is an entertaining cozy mystery with engaging characters and a well written plot. I look forward to the next book.

A glimpse behind the curtain.

I know this book is fiction but I liked the small glimpse into how a newsroom works.

I enjoyed this book. I felt like I was binge watching

I enjoyed this book. I felt like I was binge watching a show.I loved all of the details about Phoenix it gave me great visuals of where things were happening and sites I may want to take in when I visit. I thought the details about the newsroom were great it really painted the picture of how the media helps and get in the way of solving crimes. I like all the background details. I felt like all of the questions I would have had about the characters and their backstoriea were answered, so I never had to wonder about the motivation of the characters. I don't read a lot of fiction but I truly enjoyed this escape. It was well worth my time.

Excellent Debut Novel

I really enjoyed the details of being a local journalist and how much social media has intruded in an ethical and thorough search for the killer. So cool that real Phoenix locations are included. Looking forward to Christina's next book.

Unique concept

I understand why the author wrote a story like this. And it worked in demonstrating the cut-throat industry of “reporting” (media delivery). While the story started out witty, this delivered like a slowwww train, cozy mystery. I could have had HALF of the middle cut out and gotten better enjoyment out of it. It’s a debut though, so we will see what she has next!
