Distracting sound effects
At various dramatic points in the story a sound effect (sometimes as long as thirty seconds or more!) was added in- pausing the storytelling. While meant to enhance, it was actually irritating and did not enhance the story at all- the drama can carry itself and does not need these distractions. Adding to this- at least one paragraph was entirely skipped— I am following along with the book. This production was very disappointing. Hopefully future Sherlock Holmes in Portuguese will be done with fewer (or none ideally!) sound effects and long musical clips inserted all throughout, needlessly dragging out the length, and hopefully they will not skip entire passages! The part I refer to occurs when they are investigating the crypt. The narrator was good though- although one time he swapped the dialogue between Watson and Sherlock- used the other’s voice.
