Good as Always!

LaVyrle Spencer books always touch my heart and it’s so hard to stop listening. The characters and the setting are so real. One of my favorite books of hers.

This is a very touching book. Emotional, but stick with it. You can scoot forward when the scenes get too descriptive.

Love this author

I can’t say enough about the story line and development of characters. There are periods of a little too much description but this is such a touching story of enduring love.

This is a must !!!

From the very beginning, this story was so moving and captivating. Set in the Victorian era, a story about two people from different social classes, the do’s-and don’ts of high society and their forbidden love. This storyline definitely had lots of angst and kept you riveted to the end. The narrator once again does an amazing job capturing all of these characters. I do however, feel that an epilogue might have tied up lose ends regarding some of the secondary characters.

Great performance and endeering story

I like Lavyrle Spencer's novels,they are well written and heartwarming. This one is also lovely and the naration really good.I recommend it

Beautiful Story

Set in 1895 in Minnesota. Lorna is the daughter of rich socialites who is tom-boy-esque, loves to sail, and finds female past-times of the period menial and boring. Jens is the kitchen handy-man who also has a passion for boats. He is the Norwegian son of a boat builder and has the dream of opening his own boat works. Lorna pursues Jens, who initially holds her at arms-length but finds her charming and irresistible. The two fall in love and Lorna becomes pregnant. Her parents refuse Jens' marriage request and send Lorna away to a convent where she is effectively brainwashed.

It's all very frustrating and sad because Lorna and Jens seem to have found true love and the potential for happiness but her parents rip it away. The chemistry between Lorna and Jens rings true.

Emily Sutton-Smith was amazing with the delivery of the story
