Her life is missing the love… When Katelyn “Katie” Morrison attends her brother’s wedding, the glamorous hotel heiress wonders if she’ll ever find “the one”... especially when she sees her sexy-as-sin ex, Dean Prescott. After the nuptials, she’s shocked to discover an infant girl on her doorstep. Deciding to keep the baby until she can locate the mother, Katie doesn’t have the time - or energy - for Dean’s suspicions. But she still can’t shake the longing she feels for him.

While attending his best friend’s wedding, Dean can’t stop staring at Katie’s sinful curves. He swore he’d never repeat the mistake of falling for her. Learning that Katie has a newborn, Dean knows there’s more going on than Katie admits... just as he knows their attraction hasn’t faded. But when he and Katie uncover the identity of the baby’s mother, they may lose their second chance at love.

So, thanks to Hurricane Irma I’ve been without TV and Internet for 4 days. It was truly horrific AND I’m happy to say Irma turned and we weren’t hit that badly but prayers to those who were hit. That being said, I did finish Not Quite Mine, read another book and started another.

Let’s get down to this one, which I read in 2013. I love second chance romances and I’m happy to say I don’t give a darn if it’s believable or not. Believability IS NOT why I read romance! If I wanted believability I’d read fiction. I want the STORY: how they met, how long were they together, why did they break up and how long were they apart.

Dean and Katelyn’s story was fascinating and mysterious for a while, as they tried to figure out who left the baby on Katie’s doorstep, and why? And it was funny how she and Monica tried so hard not to let anyone find out about Savannah until Katie’s PI found out the truth of the whole thing. Who cares if what Katie and Monica did was legal or not? This is a book, not today’s front page news. It was a really great story and I enjoyed as much as I did Not Quite Dating, for the second time. Since I read the first two books in the Not Quite series I might as well read them ALL again.

There was explicit sex in this book and the F-bomb was released 9 times.

As to the narration: Ms. McFadden keeps getting better.

Great read and getting-better listen..

My favorite book in the series, a sweet romance that leans toward chick lit. The story will make you smile with humor and sexy banter. It's easy to connect with the very likeable characters who have obvious chemistry. Secondary characters add to the story.

Narrator okay, though better with female voice than male.

Great story. I really like the two main characters - Katie and Dean. I especially liked Katie. She is a strong woman and has a fun personality. She is also very loving. I would have liked Dean better if the reader had done a better job with his voice. I know she can do a strong male voice, but she fails to do so with Dean and with another character, Mike. She makes them sound as if they are adolescent goofy boys or cartoon characters. That was a turn off. Other than that, I have no complaints. The side characters are great and the love stories (more than one in the story line) are hot.

The baby, Savannah, is so sweet and lovable. Katie fell in love with the baby as soon as she found her in the hall outside the pent house suite. She wanted to find out where the baby came from but did not want to lose her. Katie hid the baby for as long as she could until she could find out who left her, and to make sure she could keep her. Dean, Katie's former lover, finds out the secret and he helps her. Of course he is still in love with Katie and wants to get back together with her, even though she dumped him a year and a half ago. Katie dumped Dean because she found out she could not have a baby and she knew Dean really wanted a large family. She decided he would be better off without her so that he could find a woman to marry and have a family. It is easy to see why Katie loved baby Savannah - this may be her only chance at having a baby. Lovely little story with great people.

Great baby left on the doorstep story

"Not Quite Mine" was simply FABULOUS!!! I love how Ms. Bybee bring her series together through each book. You're quite SKILLED in throwing some MYSTERY into your Contemporary Romance Novels and it works for you. I also appreciate the roles that you give to the females in your novels are strong and obtainable.

Amy McFadden continues to give an OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE as the narrator. I feel she deserves a STANDING OVATIONS 👏👏 for her voice range for the many characters introduced in Book 2. It's an accomplishment not made by many. McFadden deserves more than 5-⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐s, but that's all I have to give.

I definitely recommend "Not Quite Mine" to others, I know you would enjoy it!

Not Quite Mine is the second book in the Not Quite Series. It can be enjoyed as a stand-alone book but related characters are in previous and future books in the series. This is the same narrator from the first book in the series and she does a fine job with a wide cast of old and new characters in the story.

Katie Morrison is the wild child in the Morrison luxury hotels family. She did get a college degree but prior to this book hadn't used it working. She plans to use her interior decorating skills at her brother, Jack's, new family oriented hotels.

At Jack and Jessie's wedding, she runs into an ex-boyfriend, Dean. Dean is Jack's hotel contractor so he and Katie will be working together a lot. Katie and Dean had a secret relationship, got pregnant and then miscarried. Katie found out she is unable to carry a baby to term and breaks up with Dean without talking to him about it because she knows he wants a big family. Dean was heartbroken, had no idea why, and is keeping his distance from Katie even though he still cares for her. He thought he was heading toward marriage and family again when that woman broke it off with him too.

The night of the wedding a baby shows up outside Katie's hotel room door. There is paperwork giving full custody to Katie. She has no idea whom the mother is it why she picked Katie. Video footage of the corridor doesn't show anyone coming or going. Katie wants to keep the secret from everyone so there is no chance of the baby being taken from her before they have some answers.

Dean eventually finds out and helps Katie as they get closer to each other and baby Savannah. Over time their secrets break down and they actually talk (gasp....communication!) and sort out many of their misunderstandings. There are some surprise plot twists toward the end.
