Radio Girls is a lesbian bar. A group of straight guys thinks it’s funny to crash. North and Shaw are hired to take care of this problem (and they try not to fulfill the white savior stereotype while doing so). This story takes place before Orientation.

“Gone Goat”

North thinks Shaw needs a vacation. Shaw isn’t so sure, until he hears about the possibility of goat yoga. When the goats disappear, though, Shaw decides he only wants one thing on his vacation: to find them. This story takes place before Triangulation.

“Puppy Patrol”

Shaw and North are going to spend a peaceful weekend at a lakeside cabin. Until, that is, a dog starts barking. This story takes place before Declination.

“Shaw Aldrich and the Case of the Missing Leash”

North leaves Shaw in charge of the puppy for one night. This story takes place after Declination.

“North and Shaw: Out of Office”

A series of six vignettes featuring North and Shaw in daily life. This story takes place after Declination.

Please note that the first three stories were distributed in a preliminary form to mailing list subscribers. “Shaw Aldrich and the Case of the Missing Leash” was also released in a preliminary form to attendees at GRL 2019.

Some nice additions to the main North/Shaw story

Bottom line: If you love North and Shaw, you'll love these short stories. With no overarching Big Threat, they're enjoyable vignettes showing the guys being who they are. And isn't that what we read Greg's stories for, after all?

It's always crazy with North and Shaw

North and Shaw are just too much! LOL! This collection of short stories takes place before and during the first Borealis series and it was interesting going back to before North and Shaw cleared their way into being a couple with the first story. These two guys have a way of talking to each other/arguing with each other that can make the reader feel crazy. Sometimes they are actually angry and their words make you wonder how they can be friends, partners, and eventually lovers. Sometimes they are playing off each other in ways that are meant to confuse the people who they are questioning and the ones who are questioning them. Either way, there is always a bit of humor to enjoy.

In this book, we get to see how the two guys met their office assistant Pari, who is just crazy enough to fit in with the pair. North ends up in some interesting situations because of Shaw’s new-agey spontaneity, including looking for goat kidnappers at a goat yoga retreat and a puppy kidnapper on a different trip. We also get to see them in little cut scenes building their relationship. I liked that there was a wide variety of scenarios in these short stories. The mysteries were fleshed out with good conclusions. It was an enjoyable listen with all the zaniness we have come to expect from North and Shaw and it makes me want to do a relisten soon. Charlie David has voiced the series since the beginning and continues to do a great job bringing North and Shaw to life

Love being back with North and Shaw

These guys are crazy and some of my favorite characters of Gregory Ashe. So, it was so great to come back to them for a short period - if anything, it's made me want to start the series from the beginning and enjoy their journey all over again. It's been a while since I have heard Charlie David's voice. Glad he is back to bring North and Shaw to life!

Great narration and ... a puppy!

This book is the reason there is an adorable and troublesome ball of fluff in my house. North and Shaw's adventures in puppy rescue and care inspired me to bring home my own puppy. Listening to Charlie David's narration of their antics reminded me why I felt inspired. His performance of "Shaw and the Case of the Missing Leash" was worthy of laughter and a few sighs. If you enjoyed any of the Borealis Investigations series and plan to read the next one, this audiobook is a must-listen. Be forewarned that listening might result in pet ownership.

Great installment

This is a collection of 5 short stories in the Borealis Investigation series. Although these are stand alone mini mysteries, it would be best to have read/istened to the series or you’ll get spoilers. These stories are so much fun and fills in some gaps in the progression of North and Shaw’s relationship. Nothing groundbreaking, but slice of life insights into North and Shaw’s personalities. You also get a sense of their relationship growth as the stories are intertwined with events in the 3 main books. I really enjoyed them and they made me want to relisten to the series.

Charlie David does a masterful job in bringing these stories to life. A++++

Charlie David is a wonderful narrator. I'm so glad Greg decided to record the short story collections. I'm looking forward to the others.
