Resumen del Editor

SWFG: Single, White, Female, Geek.

"That's me, Lexi Carmichael, a reformed hacker who was gainfully employed by the National Security Agency. But a series of extraordinary events led me to leave government life behind for a fresh start with a brand-new company and an incredibly sexy boss, Finn Shaughnessy. It may not be kosher to have the hots for your boss, but he seems to have the hots for me, too. If only things didn't get so complicated....

"Darren Greening, a genius researcher from Flow Technologies (our first client!) is missing, and his bosses think I'm involved. And they aren't the only ones - the man who nearly snapped my neck in the parking garage thinks so, too.

"Now I'm caught in the middle of a complex and dangerous case. I'll have to use all my geek skills and a little help from my friends to solve the mystery of Darren's disappearance before Neck-Snapping-Man makes a return visit."

Fun and thoroughly enjoyable

A touch of mystery and crime told in the most enjoyable way possible! If you’re looking for a fun mystery with hilarious moments this is the series for you. I know that even though it’s not my normal book series to read I will be following this series. It’s nice to be able to laugh while following all the dangerous characters after our heroine!

Great Read!

Great cozy mystery with light romance. This would be a great beach read!
The heroine ends up in some really funny predicaments, causing me to laugh out loud several times. Her hilarious, clumsy moments were most endearing. Also the romance is not overly graphic and I prefer that to books that go on and on with smutty sex scenes. It leaves more to the imagination.

I didn't realize that this is the 2nd book of a series. Not to worry though, all the background info is supplied, both books are able to stand alone.

I enjoyed the narrator and felt she added to my listening, enjoyment of the book.

I'll be reading more of Julie Moffett's books and I hope there will be a 3rd book in this series.

Too Much Romance, Not Enough Mystery

For some reason, I thought this was the first in the series, but once into it, realized there was a first. But, I was able to catch up with the characters quickly.

I had high hopes for this one, as I loved the concept of high tech mysteries. However, I was quite disappointed when the focus was more on the romance aspect rather than the mystery. To me, it felt like the mystery resolution was anti-climatic, as there seemed to be more attention paid to the men who were falling all over our geeky heroine. While I don't mind a little bit of romance in my mysteries, I don't like them to take over the story. This was in the style of Stephanie Plum - the main female character is bumbling along (Stephanie while doing her job, this one while on dates), accompanied by quirky side characters, while dazzling men are after her heart. The narration was good; it didn't particularly add to the story nor did it detract from it. Personally, I don't feel the need to continue with the series.

still good, but

Lexi has major insecurities not unlike most of us. ive just begun the series and have covered Books 1&2. I plan to finish the series and hope that her character grows through the series and I don't have to re-read the same ones in every book. there were a few times when the voices sounded the same though they were different characters. i enjoy the humor and surprising twists. love the "Geek speak", too!

humorous & techy

Lexi is a humorous, witty, geek. storyline is pretty predictable, but enjoyable. narrator does not impersonate male characters well & is not good w most accents.

Television Network Drama

I usually wouldn't write a review for a book like this. It was entertaining enough, but left me feeling somehow cheated, even though I purchased it on a $4.95 sale. I was thinking about other readers who seemed to love or hate this book, and it occurred to me what may be the reason. I believe this book is meant to be a series (It look like it is actually #2 although Audible hasn't yet made that connection). It gives you a tiny adventure/glance into the main character's life, and leaves you waiting for the next book. Usually I'm all about a series, but I didn't feel like there was enough meat in this one to have me coming back for more. It could very easily be a show on network television (Castle, Bones, NCIS....). However, it is only one episode. I guess I, personally, would rather watch an episode of something moderately amusing for free than waste a credit or $ on something similar from audible.

Awesome

Love, love, love Kristen Watson Heintz as the narrator of this story, she does a wonderful job. This is one of my favorite series, Lexi is wonderful, Slash and as Phin are so well words fail me. And the Zimmerman twins well I just can't get enough. A must for your listening pleasure.

No James Bond

This book is an average listen, easy to listen to but nothing that grasps and holds the attention tight. It doesn’t help that the performance changed from the first book to the second and accents keep randomly changing. But my favorite part of all is the reader saying M16 instead of MI6… 😂😂

A freaking laugh riot

But I wish our heroine could catch a break. I understand drawing out relationships so that they can develop over several books, but continually using misunderstanding or freakish circumstances to avoid bringing characters together is getting old.

So...what happened to Slash?

I was excited for this book, but literally after the first, I expected the narration to be similar. It wasn’t. The mystery and dimension was removed when the narrator/director or whoever decided not to give Slash’s character his accent. My interest faded in the story once I first heard Slash’s new Americanized English rather than the depth of his Italian accent. I’m not certain I want to hear the next books...
