Resumen del Editor

Deep below Manhattan, tunnel engineer Josh Reed leads his team as they excavate the East Side Access extending New York's railway service. But sparks fly as the drill hits an unusual crystalline material - one Josh has never seen before. They push on, and Josh discovers something even more unexpected: a vast room, empty and lifeless - or so it seems.

When Josh finds out that the CIA are now looking for him and that his coworkers have gone missing, he turns to his best friend and boss, Lionel Parker, for help. Together they unravel the mystery of the room, what's inside it, and why the CIA are so desperate to keep them silent. It's nothing they could ever have expected.

The "Rum"

The story was great. A great mix of sci-fi, thriller and human interest. The ending was satisfying although I must admit not ending I envisioned. Makes the story more enjoyable. Overall the narration was good but I have one pet peeve which I think you might guess from the title of my review. The pronunciation of "room" was sooo distracting. I kept wondering if the character was looking for a drink. Just a personal thing which maybe should have not detracted from the overall story but it was distracting to me.

Ok

The story was ok. Nothing special and nothing extraordinary. The manner in which it's written is well done, it's just the story that's not so special.

Author is obviously not American.

Which would be fine if the story wasn't told from a supposedly American point of view. I don't mind a few cultural goofs here and there but the main antagonist is the CIA which the author thinks is a law enforcement organization. Its definitely not. The CIA has no authority to arrest anyone especially US citizens. I found this major discrepancy very distracting.

Good!

I tried to read this book a while back and just couldn't get in to it. Then I ran across it again in audible . I don't want to say too much and give things away , but I found likable characters and a good story. Greg Tremblay did a great job as narrator.

Twilight Zone meets Groundhog Day!

technothriller

Where is Rod Serling when you want him! Started out busy, then stuttered like Groundhog Day, then changed direction and gathered speed exponentially. I liked the way it was written and and how very believable the characters are. Great imagination!
Greg Tremblay makes the urgency and suspense even more intense with his narration.

IT'S NOT MY FAULT . . . is it?

This reminded me of my crack addicted step son stealing from everyone trying to help him, crashing cars and running through the woods from the law; the whole time desperately trying to find anyone besides himself to blame for the train wreck of a life he made for himself. This is a guy who had to return his children's Christmas clothes (not paid for by him) because "They didn't fit". The money never being seen by the family again and his kids without new clothes. At least in the story the main character finally figures it out. Sadly, it's only after almost everyone he cares for is gone. Obviously I'm Jaded due to my own experiences. I found the story difficult to listen to and skipped over the lame parts. In the end the character seems to accept responsibility for his life but he has this whole fantastic story that seems to prove it really wasn't his fault after all . . . I find nothing redeeming here. Bless his heart and may his life be better.

I really enjoyed this book

This book held my attention from beginning to end. The idea of the discovery was unique and interesting to explore. I would recommend this book to young adults and adults alike.

story is a bit boring, great premise though

i expected a much bigger story, the idea is solid, but at half point you feel as though it dosnt move anymore and is getting nowhere, the final scenes are lame and not tied well into the story. I did listen to the end, but didnt enjoy half of it.
