If we spend all our prayer time speaking and never listening, we will never hear a thing. This is hard to learn and an even harder discipline to establish in our prayer life. However, if we will be intentional and persistent in practicing the art of listening in our prayers, we will hear the voice of God. Obviously if we want to be able to distinguish the voice of God from the cacophony of our own thoughts, the background noise of the world, and the voice of the enemy of our souls we need to spend enough time in God’s Word becoming intimate with Him and familiar with His revelation. What you hold in your hands is the fruit of such a journey. The author does not claim to offer a new revelation, a profound prophecy, or a godly guideline for life. What he offers here is a re-gift, giving to you that which has been given to him. Dr. Owens desires to be a conduit not a reservoir.
