When David’s wife and child are killed by a hit-and-run driver, he descends into a well of self-pity and alcohol abuse, from which there seems to be no escape. But a chance meeting with his neighbour Sandra, and her daughter Jane, when their house becomes flooded, stirs David’s feelings once more and he finds himself interested in a way that he had not been attracted to a woman in a long time. As the two become friends, and David begins to become more of a feature in Sandra’s daughter’s life, it becomes apparent that the woman he is falling for is hiding from the terrible events of her past and an abusive, controlling relationship that almost destroyed her. And when the past comes calling, it brings with it a set of circumstances that are more than just coincidence, with a reckoning for all of them and perhaps a second chance as well.
