It is a story told through the words and experiences of those who lived it — pilots, civilians, politicians, propagandists, and prisoners — each bearing witness to events that would decide more than the fate of a single island.
Yet beyond the bombers and the battles, there is a deeper story here — one that cannot be reduced to maps and timetables. It is the story of how societies respond under pressure, how they are tested, how they adapt or break, and how the structures that govern human life reveal themselves most clearly in moments of crisis.
