Resumen del Editor

After watching the movie Selma, seven-year-old Nashida was shocked about race relations in America. Her parents vowed to teach Nashida about her culture every Saturday to help her understand America's unruly past. Nashida shares history lessons and her museum experience with listeners. Within the museum walls, Nashida is introduced to Richard Wright, Medgar Evers, James Meredith, Fannie Lou Hamer, Unita Blackwell, the Transatlantic Slave Trade, Jim Crow, the concept of separate but equal, and much more.

Nashida shares history lessons

Would you consider the audio edition of Nashida Visits the Smith Robertson Musuem to be better than the print version?

The Nashida character shares her museum experience and history lessons with readers in a very informative and in a thought provoking manner. She described key personalities involved in breaking down Jim Crow barriers such as Medgar Evers, James Meredith, Fannie Lou Hamer, and Anne Moody. She described pictures, protest signs, buildings, artifacts, Jim Crow culture, and much more. Readers will feel they are personally taking a journey back in time with Nashida.
