In this episode of our Whallin and White Detective series, Whallin is busy with the spring branding season when he receives a visit from Big Timbers Chief of Police, Jim Rivers. Jim asks Whallin to look into a car accident involving his Grandson Joshua. Backing off, Whallin explains car accidents are not his field of expertise. Besides he’s busy with the spring work around the ranch, free time is scarce this time of year. Feeling guilty he finally agrees to take a look. His attitude changes when Joshua dies and the chief suspects foul play. He must recuse himself from the investigation. While spending time in town, Whallin appears to have been adopted by a stray dog that continually follows him, even slipping into his truck when his back is turned. Difficult to find the true owner, Whallin takes her to the ranch for the night because the pound is full. Hope is quick to name her Shepard while Shelly lays down the law.
