Oliver Hansen and his family moved to a new town in the middle of the school year. He came from a very affluent family and was expected to adapt to the abrupt changes. He was extremely intelligent; however, he was not a jock when it came to school sports, and as a result didn't fit in with his peers.

Melanie Sanders lived on the poorer side of town and worked after school in order to help her family make ends meet. She had a green thumb and was very talented when it came to gardening and growing gorgeous flowers. One day as she was working in the garden of the Henderson family, she heard the teasing and taunting of the high school boys while they made fun of the new boy, Oliver Hansen. She knew how it felt to be ridiculed by her peers due to her living on the poorer side of town.

When the boys finally left Oliver alone, she whispered through the fence that she thought he was a terrific guy. Naturally he was curious about her and the two became friends. Over time they grew close and Oliver wanted to pursue his secret Valentine even though he knew his parents wouldn't approve of her because she came from a poorer side of town.

Loved this Valentine Story

This was a beautiful story about a boy who was being bullied for being too smart and a girl who was being bullied due to being poor. They happen to meet and their friendship begins to grow. I thought the author did a wonderful job of writing this heartfelt story. I would recommend to anyone looking for a sweet Valentine's Day story!
