The long road to finding your calling

Alizah Holstein is a transcendent writer. The historian in her lingers carefully over details, sometimes a bit too long, but in the end she draws beautiful and sometimes profound insights. Everything comes circling round, even the parts of the story that seemed tangential. A great deal of the narrative resonated with me personally, which it may not do with everyone. If you love Rome, a must read.
