My Once Depressed Soul is a collection of poems that I wrote about my own depression in the past and depression of people that I have met. Depression is not something new that attacks human beings. We find people in both the Old Testament and New Testament of the Bible who were depressed. In this poetry I express my views as an Author and not a medical Doctor – looking at depression from a spiritual point of view. I personally view Depression as a defeated spirit that can see, hear, eat and breathe. To addresses it is not a once off action but makes a repeated command it by faith against Depression the spirit of Satan to flee. When King David was depression he commanded his soul to trust in the LORD.Wise (depressed) men in the Bible surrendered themselves to God. Kind Saul was depressed and asked King David to play on a harp.Depression hates to hear praises to God. It cannot dwell in the soul praising God.Isaiah 61:3 “To appoint unto them that mourn in Zion, to give unto them beauty for ashes, the oil of joy for mourning, the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; that they might be called trees of righteous”Depression works with lethargy. It makes a person tired then sleepiness come. Slumber is a companion of poverty. when one enjoys long hours of sleep, poverty just walks into that person’s life. Poverty doesn’t trespass into the slumbers life – it is invited and welcomed. Proverbs 6:10 “Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep”
