I have seven weeks to meet and marry a human woman. If I don’t, I will lose my position as Commander of the Alliance Force. Since I took command, my attempts to meet eligible women have been disastrous. Lev, our resident anthropologist, has suggested I attend Oktoberfest in Munich. His rationale is that I like beer and the comradery of dancing and singing and will be surrounded by women who also enjoy the same activities. I always advise my officers to mingle with humans at their festivals. The better we understand humanity and are emotionally connected to the people of Earth, the better we can defend their planet. Perhaps taking my own advice will help me find a wife before it’s too late.

The Alliance Holiday Series is set in the present day. However, aliens, especially the Alliance fleet, play an important role in humanity’s interactions in the galaxy (even if most humans are unaware). Enter this alien world and follow these human women to the Alliance Empire, a matriarchal society where women have always ruled, but Alliance men have always dominated their hearts. There are few heroes or women being rescued. Instead, readers are led through complex traditions of an alien culture: mazes of alien courting rituals, obedience to strict religious codes, and often uncomfortable compromises, all while chasing romance and marriage. Each book is standalone but can be traced back to something the women in House Human discovered about the Alliance’s relationship with Earth 600 years later in the Renascence Alliance Series. An overarching story is intertwined throughout the series, but it is not necessary to read the books chronologically to enjoy the romance of each individual book.

📖 Summary:
Started with Oktoberfest rom-com energy and swerved straight into sci-fi politics and slave auction chaos. I was not emotionally prepared.
- Helga: Burned-out lawyer with peak rational girl energy. Loved her.
- Fox: Hot alien commander with very questionable communication skills (sir, the marriage ceremony?!)

📚 Bookish Moments:
“Wooly bits” will live rent-free in my head forever 😂
The whipping scene? So uncomfy I needed a snack and a break.

🌌 Worldbuilding:
Unexpectedly complex! The political intrigue was way deeper than I expected — and I kinda loved it.

💭 Final Thoughts:
If you like alien romances with politics and unexpected depth, this might be for you. I’d definitely read more in this world and series! And Fox?? You really should’ve warned her about the whipping. I’m still recovering.

🎧 Narration Style: Dual
⭐️ Score: 4 stars
I enjoyed the female narrator she was expressive and fun! The male narrator? A little too monotone for the emotional moments.
🔁 Re-listen Worthy:
I’d re-listen… but I’m speeding up every scene with the male narrator.

This is a standalone in the Alliance Holiday series. This time it is Commander Fox of the Alliance Force and Helga who is helping out a friend as a beermaid. They meet at Oktoberfest in Munich. This has been a series I have enjoyed from the first book, another engaging story. It is written in a 2 POV making you see what each of them feels. I enjoyed listening to Jill Smith and Jack Calihan narrate their story.

Gleeful Goblin Review: Such a fun story! A burnt out and heartsick human rights lawyer is feeling disenchanted with the Justice part of the criminal justice system after losing another case. Feeling like she isn't making a positive difference in an impersonal and often cruel system she decides to take a break from her normal life and job and spend some time with her friend in a different city. That friend happens to have an in for our FMC to become a server at Oktoberfest! Our super responsible and serious MMC is under a ton of pressure from his higher ups to find a wife or lose basically everything. One of his friends gives the excellent suggestion that Oktoberfest might be a perfect place to meet his future wife (for reasons I can't spoil) and then things really take off! Tons of fun to listen to and a great addition to the series. 5/5 Stars.

I really enjoyed this book. Great world building and wonderful characters. I loved both Helga and Fox. It started off fairly lighthearted- and then some unexpected events happened and alien politics ramped up the excitement. A fun adventure. Jill Smith and Jack Calihan did a great job bringing these characters to life. I especially liked Jill's voice.

Okay, so, alien abduction, Oktoberfest, and a matriarchal society that’s somehow both empowering and wildly unfair? Sounds off but I really enjoyed it!

I got this audiobook in exchange for an honest review, and let me just say: I honestly had a blast. This is book six in the Alliance series, but don’t panic you can absolutely jump in here without feeling lost. That said, I’m now fully invested and planning to go back and listen to the first five because I need to know how we got to this spicy, chaotic, emotional place.

The world building is awesome Alma knows how to craft a society that feels lived in, layered, and just alien enough to make you question your own cultural biases. I loved how the book tackled assumptions, especially with Helga, who’s taking a break from being a human rights lawyer and gets treated like she’s brainless because she’s working as a server. The way people judged her in this woman led society was wild. But Fox sees her strength, her intelligence, and her heart and he’s not just smitten, he’s invested. That man (alien?) is ready to risk his career and life for her, and I was so here for it.

The feel of this audio had that slow burn meet high-stakes flavor I love. Jack Callahan’s narration brings every moment to life whether it’s awkward alien flirting or emotional revelations, he nails the tone. He brings so much life to the character Fox. I will say the ending wrapped up a little too fast for my taste, I’m hoping the earlier books will fill in that gap for me.

💬 Bottom line:
If you want a sci-fi romance that’s smart, spicy, and surprisingly tender, then this one is for you. It’s got political intrigue, emotional depth, and a love story that’s both sweet and subversive. Plus, who doesn’t want to root for an alien bureaucrat trying to save humanity and find a wife at a beer festival?
