Acerca de esta escucha
In this unique look at Internal Family Systems Therapy, New York Times bestselling novelist Michael Lister recounts his first year of IFS therapy with his gifted and compassionate counselor Bob Kuchta.
Employing novelistic techniques that vividly bring to life IFS parts work, each session is depicted with arresting detail, providing readers with a truly immersive and moving experience.
This intimate and entertaining look at this revolutionary therapy offers readers unparalleled access to the inner workings of a client’s first experiences with IFS and the wisdom and insight provided by his therapist.
Open this book and step inside the safe, sacred space of the therapy room, and participate in the curative and restorative process taking place there.
"My First Year with IFS Informed Therapy is an easy, engaging read that gives a peek into the IFS therapy process in a way that academic writings fail to do. Part of its charm lies in its unique structure, where each vignette is viewed from both the client and therapist perspective. Lister is an experienced writer, who knows how to narrate through a series of meaning-rich moments, rather than long expositions. His personal story brings to life many universal aspects of the self-discovery and healing process." --Tori Olds, Ph.D., Psychologist, Founder of Deep Eddy Psychotherapy

Nothing stellar
The book is essentially a series of sessions that the author and his therapist conducted. While each one is somewhat interesting and informative, none of them felt particularly mind blowing. Perhaps more importantly, there was little to connect one chapter. So, the book reads less like a building logical construction and more like a grouping of loosely connected short essays. After about the 4th session things just started feeling very repetitive. The AI voice narration didn’t help anything either and its occasional mispronunciation of words made some sections even worse.
