Re-Release

Kenya Lewis thought she had her forever already picked out. For three years, she and Antoine looked solid — laughing, loving, and building the kind of future she thought would last. But the moment their daughter Arianna was born, his mask dropped. The sweet, attentive man she knew disappeared, replaced with someone colder, lazier, and selfish as hell.

While Kenya was healing from birth, juggling sleepless nights, and learning motherhood on the fly, Antoine checked out. He was still around… but not really present. Kenya found herself doing everything alone — diapers, doctors, bottles, bills — all while he complained she was “nagging” for simply asking for help.

One day, he got tired of being held accountable… and he left.
Left her with a newborn.
Left her heartbroken.
Left her to figure life out with no apology and no plan.

From there, it became a cycle Kenya knew too well — Antoine popping up every month or two, asking about Arianna just enough to ease his conscience, but never enough to be a father. He'd disappear again, reappear with excuses, and vanish all over. Kenya grew tired of the empty promises, the inconsistency, the fights, and the disappointment.

Thank God for her support system — her mama, her girls, her family — the ones who stepped up while the man who helped make her baby did nothing at all.

Just when Kenya’s life finally starts to calm down, she meets Marquise — a man who shows her everything love is supposed to look like. A man who steps up without being asked. A man who treats Arianna like she matters.

But when Antoine sees Kenya moving on, glowing up, and raising a happy child without him…
his jealousy sparks drama she never asked for.

This is a story about heartbreak, healing, and the strength of a mother who refuses to settle for half-ass love. A story about choosing peace over chaos, consistency over excuses, and real love over the ghost of what could’ve been.

Because one thing Kenya learns for sure:

Never beg a deadbeat to love your child. What one man won’t do, another man will. And Kenya? She’s done settling.

I really enjoyed the storyline. Definitely true to life but it was just too much narration and not enough dialog between each characters. more than 75 percent of the book is narraring what someone is feeling or thinking instead of actual dialect when one character is conversing with another. I don't know what audible is doing with these virtual narrators but they really need to stop!!! it brings down the realness of the book and the mispronunciation of words is a big Debbie downer!! get it together audible!!

too much narration
