Acerca de esta escucha
David, a young man from Scotland navigates the complexities of love, identity, and familial expectations as he transitions to his new life of attending University in America. Throughout his journey, David grapples with his sexuality and being comfortable in his skin. During his first year in university, he begins to form deep connections with two men: Anthony and Allen. His experiences with the two are marked by internal conflicts of anxiety, depression, cultural adjustments, and their evolving relationships that challenge his understanding of love and loyalty. Will David be able to handle his new life in America; or will all of the new experiences be too much causing him to return home and live the life his family has planned for him instead?

Entertaining listen and stellar narration
To be honest, the writing wasn’t 5-star and if I were reading it in a book, I probably wouldn’t have finished. But in audiobook form, I was totally hooked!
The characters were so dramatic and often frustrating (freaking Anthony!!!)—this book had me yelling at them and sometimes laughing out loud at how it all unfolded. It also touches on some important issues like anxiety and mental health, and the identity struggles of being openly gay.
I love audiobooks but I’m really picky about the narrator’s voice, like if it’s too boring or annoying to listen to. This narrator’s voice was so enjoyable to listen to and really brought life to the characters and helps you sympathize with each one. I think the narrator really made the story shine. I kept coming back eager to find out who David would choose.
Overall this was an entertaining listen and I would definitely listen to part 2.

The DRAAAAAAMAA
First and foremost - loved the narrator! Did such a phenomenal job of keeping you captivated and giving different voices to all the different characters! It was a joy to listen to.
The story is a bit cyclical as most young adult angst novels are. Just when you think the protagonist has it figured out suddenly someone else enters the arena and he can’t decipher what his heart wants. With that, it was an excellent distraction at work and in the car and some moments made me scream from frustration at the protagonist for being so naive(in the best way)! The drama kept me enthralled and often made me feel like I was in a soap opera! I wanted to fight Anthony! All-in-all It’s such a relatable queer experience! Would gladly read another title from this author!

Popcorn for the ears
The narrator gives wonderfully distinct breadth to the many character’s individual personalities and incisively shapes the story’s surroundings and the main character’s internal voice: the balm of supportive friends and a crush’s embrace to the torpor over a possible flirtation or heated exchange.
The story itself fleshes itself out similarly to the main character’s wrenching anxiety. Every character interaction becomes immense with euphoric or destructive meaning and lines up into a parade of continuous confrontation. These interactions appear most central to the story to the point where everything else feels like it’s streamlined to get to the next one. With so many vivid settings, I wish the pace lingered more.
Overall, a well performed, episodic, breezy turbulence of unfamiliar settings and possible relationships. Would check out part 2 if same narrator.

Love this narrator!
Absolutely loved this narrator — he made me feel like I was right back in my freshman year of college navigating a new relationship with new college besties by my side. A sweet and angsty tale of a young love triangle, filled with classic rom com complications and twists and turns. Fun story. Could listen to this narrator ALL DAY.
