Sun, sea, and scandal—Bobby’s seaside filming location becomes a deadly game of lies in Murder in Avalon.

Bobby is starting to enjoy life as a movie star. He even gets to film a movie on Catalina Island with Rick, Bo-Bo’s trainer. Problem is, the man who tried to take Rick’s job just got killed - with Bo-Bo’s leash around his neck.

It’s Hollywood, in 1923, and Bobby’s star is rising. Even though the director of his new film seems to hate Bobby, Rick, and even Bo-Bo, the exceptional Jack Russell Terrier, Bobby is determined to make the best of it. That’s before Rick is the number one suspect when the man hired to replace Rick ends up dead.

Bobby depends on his good friend Clara Bow and his slightly daffy mother, Joyce, who both share a supernatural gift with Bobby to help him clear the name of the man he might just love. They have to work together to stop the attacks before someone else - like Bobby, himself - is killed.

This cozy mystery has a bit of it all: an amateur sleuth with a special gift, a trained dog, and a budding romance surrounded by a cast of eccentric Hollywood types. D.A.E. Jackson gives you a 1920s cozy with a different kind of main character. He’s young, gay, and sort of famous--and he’ll be lucky to come out of this alive, and maybe with a boyfriend?

Another great story

This story was even better than the first, a very light and enjoyable mystery. Either the virtual voice does a better job in this volume, or I've gotten more used to it. Still, it would be great if the third volume could have a live narrator so the voices could be distinguished.

Great story! The virtual voice mispronunciations occasionally threw me out of it while I tried to figure out what the words were supposed to be but overall a fun romp.
