I loved it

I've listened to several books my Leigh Ann Dobbs. This is one of my favorites.

Hazel is invited to Lowry House for a birthday party. Unfortunately someone is trying to kill the birthday lady. Hazel is on the case with her bossy car dickens. lol Will she find the killer in time?

even better narrated

I read the book and found it just ok, then I purchased the audible version, don't ask why, and I enjoyed it 100 times more. glad I gave it a second chance.

Great start to a new series

This was a great start to a new series. The characters are well developed and likable. I highly recommend this to cozy mystery fans.

Enjoyable cozy mystery.

I would recommend this for someone looking for a cozy mystery in a historic setting with appealing characters. The narration was quite good as well. The mystery is less of a focus; more appealing for the Jazz age country house setting.

Boring

I don’t know if it was the story or the narrator.
It just couldn’t hold my attention.
I think the basic plot was good, but the story was boring.

Pretty good

The heroine is fun and I love the time period. The story was a bit predictable and the author spends far to much time rehashing the suspects rather than developing the plot. Love the reader, perfect choice for this character.

The Cat

The story is good although the author occasionally uses language that is inappropriate for the time and country. The reader gives a fine performance of the cat’s frequent meowing, but that was annoying to me. I don’t think I’ll listen to another of these mysteries because of that.

Obvious Murderer

Well read and an enjoyable listen, but I easily guessed the murderer very early on, which is something I otherwise rarely do. If you also think you know whodunnit, you’re probably right.

Complexity of the story.

It was a very well thought out story and will need to see about other books in this series.

This was a mildly enjoyable novel of the type I enjoy. The story was good, but the dialog was out of sync at times with a 1920's English country house. I found it jarring. There are others, such as the Royal Spyness or Daisy Dalrymple, that I enjoy very much. This was a shade off.
