As we all know clocks can't talk, or can they? Gilbert Clock was put together from a pile of wood in 1879. He and his friend "Rosie" a piece of rosewood, were joined by a wood worker and a gentleman name Mr. Gilbert and his associates inserted the workings of a clock into the cavity that remained. Gilbert became a clock that was purchased that same year by a gentleman and his new wife to adorn their home in Waterbury, Connecticut. He was the treasure of their home and was placed in the kitchen where all of the husband and wife discussions took place. Gilbert also adorned a famous restaurant of the day for a few years before being repurchased by the Holscombs, its original owner, and placed in a place of great magnificance on the fireplace mantel in the den. From these prominent places Gilbert listened to all of the news of the day and kept a brilliant memory of the events of the time which he told me, in secrecy of course, but I had to write it all down, and from his vivid stories of that period of the 1800's and early 1900's, I have written this series of three books. This is Volumn 2. The facts are genuine althought the story line may be somewhat fictional, but I know that you will enjoy the events that he so vividly described to me.
